日本とのつながり16〜ペルシア〜

ペルシャ絨毯やペルシャ猫といった言葉は日本人に馴染みがある。
ペルシャは今のイランの古い呼び名であり、ペルシアともいう。

特に、ササン朝ペルシアという王朝は勢力を誇った。
260年にはローマ皇帝を捕らえた。
さらに、567年にはビザンツ帝国（かつてのローマ帝国の片割れの帝国）と抗争をくり返した。
ローマ帝国はヨーロッパの人々にとって世界そのものであった。
その国と争ったペルシアもまた、大国である。

そんなササン朝で使われた水差しと同じ型のものが日本の正倉院宝庫に残されている。
遠い大国の威光がシルクロードを通ってはるばる日本にやってきた。
ササン朝の最盛期より少し後、中国を随が統一し、日本では聖徳太子が政務に就く。
他国の文明の最盛期が刺激をもたらす。
