紀元前3000年頃、エジプトではメネス王による政治的統一がなされ、第1王朝が創始された。

紀元前2781年頃、太陽暦が使用されるようになった。

同じ頃、ギリシア世界ではエーゲ文明が起こった。

その中で紀元前1400年頃にかけて、クレタ島を中心に海洋的な特徴を持つミノア文明が栄えた。

この時、使用された線文字Aは現在に至るまで未解読である。

日本は紀元前3000年頃、縄文時代であり、文字は使用されていない。

しかし、この頃炎をかたどった火炎土器が登場し始める。

岡本太郎を驚愕させた装飾性豊かな土器だ。

古代文明の中から、人間の英知を感じ取ることはできる。
