日本とのつながり14〜彫刻力〜
スペイン南部にグラナダという都市がある。
ここには、アルハンブラ宮殿という世界遺産があり、そこにある「獅子の中庭」には圧巻の彫刻がある。
ヨーロッパなのにイスラームの遺産？
そう思う人もいるだろう。
実は、このグラナダという都市はかつてのイスラームの王朝であるナスル朝の首都だった。
イスラーム勢力はかつてヨーロッパにまで侵入していたのだ。
このグラナダは1492年に陥落するまで、スペインで存続していた。
アルハンブラ宮殿は表が裏、裏が表といわれるイスラム建築の典型例であり、
内部に入ると、最後のイスラームの芸術の花が華麗に咲いている。
日が暮れるのも忘れてしまうほど見惚れてしまう装飾が施されているため、別名日暮門とも呼ばれる。
ここには徳川家康が祀られている。
洋の東西を問わず、文化を象徴する芸術の技は世界中の人々の心を訴える。

Speaking of sculpture, the Yomei Gate of Nikko Toshogu, which is also a World Heritage Site, is a masterpiece.
It is also called Higurashimon, as it is decorated so that you can forget about the sunset.
Tokugawa Ieyasu is enshrined here.
Regardless of the east or west of the ocean, artistic techniques that symbolize culture appeal to people around the world.
