イギリスのウェールズ南部にブレナヴォンという町がある。

古代ローマ時代から製鉄で栄え、産業革命時の製鉄所などが残っている。

今では炭鉱も閉山されたが、労働者の町の雰囲気が残っている。

日本の近代化は幕末から明治時代にかけて進展する。

そして、着手から50年間ほどで産業革命を経て経済を発展させた。

その痕跡の一つが、高島炭鉱である。

日本で初めて蒸気機関による採掘が行われ、のちに三菱財閥の採掘によって日本のエネルギー経済を支えた。

1986年に閉山している。

産業の発展が人間社会の進展を生み出した。

その時の痕跡は、かつての賑わいを彷彿とさせる。

Connection with Japan 25-Steelmaking and coal mine-

 There is a town called Brenavon in the south of Wales in England.

 It has flourished with iron making since the Roman times, and there are still steel mills from the Industrial Revolution.

 The coal mine is now closed, but the atmosphere of the workers' town remains.

 Japan's modernization progressed from the end of the Edo era to the Meiji era.

 Then, about 50 years after the start, the economy was developed through the industrial revolution.

 One of the traces is the Takashima Coal Mine.

 This was the first mining operation in Japan using a steam engine, and the mining of the Mitsubishi conglomerate later supported Japan's energy economy.

 It closed in 1986.

 Industrial development gave rise to human society.

 The traces at that time are reminiscent of the past bustle.
