明治時代、群馬県の富岡製糸場には全国から女工たちが集まった。
政府から雇われたフランス人の技術者の指導のもと、質の高い生糸の生産が目指された。
彼女たちは地元に帰り、指導者として技術を伝える使命も担っていた。
しかも、当時の生糸は日本にとって外貨を稼ぎ、世界で生き残るための生命線でもあった。
寄宿内には医師が常駐する病院があり、食事や薬も無料で提供されたという。
のちに、日本の生糸は世界中に輸出されることとなる。
一方、イギリスのダーウェント峡谷の工場群は世界で最初期のものとされる。
ここから始まった産業革命がやがて、日本にも伝わったとも言える。
世界中の社会を変える技術のクオリティは国家の命運を握っている。

In the Meiji era, female workers gathered from all over the country at the Tomioka Silk Mill in Gunma Prefecture.
Under the guidance of a French engineer hired by the government, the aim was to produce high quality raw silk.
They were also responsible for returning their skills to their hometown and teaching their skills.
Moreover, the raw silk at that time was a lifeline for Japan to earn foreign currency and survive in the world.
There is a hospital where doctors are stationed in the boarding house, and food and medicine are provided free of charge.
Later, Japanese raw silk will be exported all over the world.
Meanwhile, the factories in the Derwent Valley in England are considered to be the earliest in the world.
It can be said that the industrial revolution that started here finally came to Japan.

12世紀は世界各地の諸勢力が着実に力をつけてきて、各地で衝突が見られる。
キリスト教勢力が聖地イェルサレム奪還を狙い、十字軍を何度も派遣してイスラーム勢力と争った。
特に第3回十字軍は今のイギリス・フランス・ドイツの3国王が出征した。
これを迎え撃ったのが現在のエジプトのあたりに王朝を起こしたサラディンである。
彼は、キリスト教国が建てられていたイェルサレムを奪還し、その公正さと勇猛さはキリスト教側からも讃えられた。
一方、中国では宋王朝が北方民族からの圧迫に苦しみ、臣下の礼をとった。
日本では平清盛・源頼朝ら武士の棟梁が次々と登場し、時代が大きく変わりつつあった。
各地の衝突が新しい時代を招来する。

沖縄はかつて琉球王国と呼ばれ、日本と中国。東南アジアとの中継貿易で栄えた。
都の那覇は政治・経済・文化の中心であり、首里城は国王の居城である。
他にも、琉球王国が3つに分かれて争っていた時代の豪族たちの居城が各地に残る。
その場所は住民たちの精神的よりどころとなり、見事な石垣が周囲を囲んでいる。
かつての王国の繁栄と戦乱を忍ばせる。
同じく、交易で栄えた都市としてマレーシアのムラカがある。
かつて14〜15世紀にマラッカ王国として繁栄し、中国・トルコ・エジプトなど世界中から商人が訪れた。
また、太平洋とインド洋を結ぶマラッカ海峡はヨーロッパの列強国の争奪の的となった。
交易力の活かし方を考えさせられる。

Okinawa was once called the Ryukyu Kingdom, and Japan and China.

11世紀は世界各地で大規模な侵入が見られた。
まず、ヨーロッパでは北欧に定住していたノルマン人が10世紀にフランス北部に侵入し、公国を作っていた。
この公国の王であるウィリアムは1066年にイングランドに侵入し、イギリス・フランスにまたがるノルマン王朝を創始した。
そして、ヨーロッパ全体で見ても、各地で少しずつ王国が安定してくるようになった。
そして、1099年にはイスラーム勢力の支配下にあった聖地イェルサレムを奪還する十字軍が派遣された。
この侵入は13世紀末まで何度も繰り返された。
一方、中国では宋王朝が北方のモンゴル系騎馬民族の侵入に悩まされていた。
この王朝では技術が発達し、羅針盤や火薬などが発明された。
日本では源氏物語が書かれ、1086年に院政が始まった頃である。
国が安定してくると、外部へ勢力を伸ばす。

During the 11th century, large-scale invasions were seen all over the world.
First, in Europe, Normans, who settled in Northern Europe, invaded northern France in the 10th century, creating a principality.

スイス出身のル・コルビュジエが世界中に立てた建築物が国境を越えて世界遺産に登録されている。
日本では、国立西洋美術館がそれにあたる。
建物の1階部分を柱が支え、大きな建物が宙に浮いているように見える。
これにより、建物にスケール感を出すことができていると感じる。
インド北部にチャンディガールという都市がある。
この街の都市計画はル・コルビュジエが担当し、ル・コルビュジエが設計した裁判所や議会などが今でも現役で使用されている。
ここでも、やはり建物のスケールを感じる。
行政庁舎は高さ42m、横253mと宮殿のような佇まいである。
しかし、建物群の中にはスケールだけでなくオシャレなデザインも施され、建築家の個性が顔を覗かせる。
人智に裏打ちされた設計により、私たちは建築物を「楽しむ」ことができる。

Connection with Japan 55 ~Buildings~
The building built by Le Corbusier from Switzerland all over the world is listed as a World Heritage Site across the border.
In Japan, this is the National Museum of Western Art.
Pillars support the second floor of the building, and it looks like a large building is floating in the air.
I feel that this gives the building a sense of scale.
There is a city called Chandigarh in northern India.
The city planning of this city was done by Le Corbusier, and courts and parliaments designed by Le Corbusier are still in active use.
Again, I feel the scale of the building.
The administrative building is 42m high and 253m wide and looks like a palace.
However, In the group of buildings not only the scale but also the stylish design is given, and the individuality of the architect is shown in each building

10世起、ヨーロッパでは東西分立が決定的になる。
西ヨーロッパではフランク王国が分裂し、その内の東フランク王国の国王が962年にローマ教皇から帝冠を授けられた。
これが、現在のドイツ・オーストリアの範囲に位置し、神聖ローマ帝国の始まりとなる。
カトリックに権威付けられている点が重要である。
東には東ローマ帝国（ギリシア正教）が最盛期を迎えており、両者は儀礼上の違いなどから対立を深めていくこととなる。
中東では、広大なイスラーム帝国が分立期を迎え、中国でも唐が907年に滅び、分裂時代を迎える。
日本では藤原道長によって貴族政治が全盛期に向かう一方で、地方に武士が登場してきている。
分立は次の安定時代への前兆でもある。

キリスト教の魅力は宗教の価値に気づかせてくれる。
長崎と天草地方には、江戸時代に弾圧から逃がれた潜伏キリシタンたちの集落などが残されている。
キリスト教は禁止された。
しかし、驚くべきことに人々は隠れ、250年間も密かに信仰を続けた。
トルコのギョレメ国立公園でも洞窟の中にキリスト教の岩窟聖堂が見られる。
信仰を守るために、人目のつかない場所に移動し、信仰を続ける。
命を賭して。
宗教が何を人間に与えるのかについて考えざるを得ない。

Connections with Japan 53 ~The charm of Christianity~
The charm of Christianity reminds us of the value of religion.
